"With a Heavy Heart" marks a departure from solely sneaker construction. The base for these shoes was a pair of Hanover Brogues from the 1970s, which were modernized with a lugged sole and spikes. An antiqued finish was applied, exposing the red leather underneath the Black dye. A heavy heel reinforced with screws grounds these shoes, and corrupts their sleek, formal aesthetic. The spikes and sole transform the shoe from its stuffy roots, creating formalwear better

suited for the oncoming apocalypse.
